2.3.5 Lan MFSA Block Definition

Last Revised: 18 December 1991

Logical Record:

The MFSA block is based on the completion of one full MFSA schedule cycle. There are 8 schedules in a cycle, and one schedule is performed during each LAN logical record cycle based on 4 formats. Hence, the completion of all 8 MFSA schedules requires 32 formats (1024,2048,4096,8192 seconds, respectively, at the 1024,512,256,128 bps rates). The M'(120) and F'(60) detectors are sectored by 8 and the M(30) and F(150) detectors are sectored by 4 over the 10, 20, 40, or 80 spins per LAN logical record (4 formats). In order to normalize the pulse height spectra, the rate channels for each detector are included. Two count rate averages are computed for each channel: one over the entire MFSA cycle and another over just the time corresponding to the accumulation of the pulse height spectrum of the detector in question. This is to aid in establishing whether the MFSA data can be used as characteristic of the entire interval.
