Appendix 7. LAN EDR Interface Specification

A7.5 Lanzerotti (LAN) Experiment

The LAN EDR science record is designed to a cycle of 8 telemetry formats (1 format=32 frames) or 256 telemetry frames. The logical structure is shown in Figure A7-5.

Processing Start/Stop
Refer to Section A7.4.2.

Record Buildup. LAN science record buildup will proceed with the extraction of the appropriate LAN bit locations from telemetry frames 1 through 256 of each 8 telemetry format cycle. Section A7.4.2 defines the basic data extraction procedure.

Record Header. The LAN record shall receive a standard SFDU header and tertiary header as described in Sections A7.1 and A7.2.

Data Block. The LAN data block contains data extracted from the science data format as shown in Figure A-6 of Reference 3. The order of word locations from the telemetry frame is preserved in the EDR data block.

Other Data. The Lanzerotti Experiment Team has reached agreement with the Bame Experiment Team to receive BAM EDR records on the LAN EDR tape. However, the final decision by the LAN Team to do this has not yet been made as of 15 August 1984.

Table A7-6 LAN EDR Data Block Format

Table A7-6

The above 7 word structure repeats 255 more times for a total of 1792 32-bit words representing 8 telemetry formats.
